Files on iOS and Android #
Use the Dataplicity mobile app to work with your organisation's shared folders from a phone. Sign in, then open the Files tab.
Browse and upload #
- Open a shared folder. Use the breadcrumbs to navigate back.
- Choose the upload action and select a document with the system document picker.
- Return to the app and wait for the transfer to complete. If it fails, check your connection and use Retry. Use Cancel to stop a transfer you no longer want.
- Confirm the file appears in the destination folder.
The picker supplies a private copy for the upload; your original document is unchanged. Keep the app open and in the foreground until a transfer completes. If you switch apps or close Files during a transfer, return to Files, check whether it completed, and retry if needed. Returning from the background refreshes folder access and contents.
Filtering applies to the entries already loaded. Load more entries when you need to look further through a folder.
Preview, download and export #
Tap a supported file to preview it. PDF and raster image previews support files up to 20 MiB; text previews support files up to 1 MiB. Other formats can be downloaded and opened with an appropriate app.
Use the download and system export actions to save or share a copy outside Dataplicity. An exported copy is independent of the shared file: later edits and permission changes do not update or remove it.
Organise and recover files #
Use a file or folder's actions to rename, move, delete or replace it. Replacements check the current version; refresh and review the latest file if another person changed it first. Moving content to another shared folder applies that folder's permissions.
Open deleted items and use Restore within the retention period shown by the app. Shared-folder management and access-tag changes require the appropriate permissions.
Work across devices #
Changes made on the phone appear in the web console and connected computers. The mobile app uses your signed-in account's folder permissions. Ask your administrator if you cannot see or open a folder.
For a managed folder in Explorer or Finder, install the Windows or macOS Files app. Phone downloads and exports are copies you manage explicitly.
