Prove what changed after a maintenance window
Solstice Utilities finishes a weekend plant window. Amber Field Systems pushes a sampling config to a region overnight. The next morning someone asks what actually changed - and whether the job finished on every intended unit.
Without Dataplicity
Tribal knowledge and chat scrolls. Partial rollouts look “done.” The next outage starts with “did we touch that site?”
With Dataplicity
- Run bounded fleet jobs or scheduled tasks against a class and tag selector - not an ad-hoc SSH loop.
- Watch progress and failures on the job or task history while the window is open.
- Keep the selector and outcome on the record so support and engineering share one answer the next day.
- Promote repeatable checks into monitors if the window exists to catch drift early - observational alignment (when documented) can later show whether a class silently split; it does not auto-remediate.
Outcome
Maintenance has a receipt: what was targeted, what succeeded, what remains.
